What We’re Testing: BMW 535i xDrive Gran Turismo

Our tester this week is a 2011 BMW 535i xDrive Gran Turismo, so we’re not suffering any lack of opulence. The thing is, we’re aiming to take the Gran Turismo to the Unofficial Sun Peaks Ski Resort Gay Ski Week; current known attendance – five. The sticking point is the GT arrived with all-season tires. Not a problem in Vancouver, but we’re headed up the Coquihalla. So we took the car out for a bit of a warm up to see if the xDrive will hold it’s own on ice. It’s not about lurid doughnuts and slides, so much as getting a feel for traction, breaking and control if a 2,135kg car starts to slide… No, really.
The tires may not be an issue, but the name is, “BMW 535i xDrive Gran Turismo” is a mouthful so we’d like your help in naming the beast. Fire your suggestions on to me, @NeilJohnston, via Twitter and we’ll use the name that best captures the essence of the BMW in the review.
